Old Onomea Hānai Farm is our dream — to live in nature, grow food for the community, and share it with our hānai (chosen) family.
We are a small, family-run farm on Old Onomea Road in Onomea. ʻOno means delicious in Hawaiian, and mea means beautiful — a reminder that nourishment should be both.
We believe the land is chief and people are its stewards. We practice regenerative farming with intention. This land is tended not for extraction, but for relationship — with soil, plants, animals, and people.
We are a queer-affirming sanctuary. LGBTQ+ folks are safe here. We believe care for the land and care for each other are inseparable, and that chosen family makes life beautiful.
Respect for each other and for the land is required.

The Buildings
After two years of active building insanity, we passed our final inspection on July 9, 2024.
-
Breadfruit
We have 15 mature ‘ulu or breadfruit trees that need to be trimmed and cared for.
-
Farm
We have been trying out so many things to see what is happy here and what people need. So far Ulu, Lilikoi and Ube are the winners.

Palm Garden
We care for a section of the Carlsmith and Akina palm garden. The variety of palm trees is amazing.
